Plant Observation

Hypothesis:
Method: I predict that by taking out the soil will cause the plant to lose life overnight

The plant I will be observing is: Mint Plant

Observation day 1: The Mint Plant has lost its strength and is now flopping over

Observation day 3: The leaves and stem have turned brown

Observation day 7:It is now completely dead with it’s leaves and stem brown.

Explanation: Why did this happen to my plant?

It didn’t have any nutrients or water. The sun also had its negative effect by drying up the plant faster than normal.

Math's Work

Make a copy of this Document and Share it with your group and Miss Stone

Sharing Lollies
We are learning to identify equivalent fractions

Maara and her three friends are going to share a licorice lace. If the lace is 12cm long, what length of the lace will each friend get? What fraction will they get? 1/4 3 cm

2 other friends approach Maara and would like some of the lace too. How can they split the lace (which has already been cut into quarters) between 6 people equally.   2/12

What would happen if yet another two friends wanted a share? 3/24

How many cm of the lace would they recieve? 1.5 cm

Today's Math

Today I was able to answer every single maths question I had for the rest of the day and now I am getting extra chocolate ;) Here are the questions

WE ARE LEARNING TO find fractions of whole and fixed numbers

Yesterday we were left with 6 chocolate bars split between 13 children. How much chocolate would each child now receive? 6/13

Miss stone doesn’t feel like chocolate today. How much chocolate would each child receive if their are seven chocolate bars.

There were supposed to be 14 children in our group, how much chocolate would each child receive if there were 7 chocolate bars. 7/14 equivalent to 1/2

Yesterday's Math

Yesterday we had these maths questions and I don't mean to brag buuuuuut I finished this faster than anyone else ;) Anyway have a try with the questions. P.S you better not peak at the answers if you do.

WE ARE LEARNING TO find fractions of whole and fixed numbers

Levi and Jayden have tickets for Rainbows end. Their tickets allow them to go on 20 rides each. In the first hour, Levi goes on 7 rides while Jayden goes on 6.

What is the fraction for the number of rides Levi goes on compared if his total number of rides?
7/20
Write the fraction for the number of rides Jayden has.
6/20
Write the fraction for the total number of rides the boys went on in the first hour compared with their total number of rides.
13/40
What fraction of their rides do they have left?
27/40

Moses has 17/4 of a bar of chocolate in his school bag. He gives Taki 5/4 of his chocolate. How much chocolate does Moses have left over? 3 wholes

Fusi also has some chocolate. After she gives Linda Kiki ⅞ of a bar she has 63/8 left.  How much chocolate did she have in the first place? 70/8 8 wholes and six-eighths

Potato Experiment

Image result for Potato pic

Today my classroom and I are conducting experiments on potatoes. The experiments we are conducting are to see if a potato will not grow without light

My hypothesis is that without light and soil it will not grow.

Overnight (Update)

I know, I know. I haven't uploaded anything on my blog relating to Overnight I've been busy ...... and bored this past 2 months and I really didn't want to do anything unless I had to. Anyway sorry for not doing this, even though I'm sure nobody's interested in this.

(Story Start)

BOOOM! A door shuddered as a figure burst through, he had been running for 15 minutes now, he stopped hoping, praying, that the thing that was following him had stopped the chase. He was sure he had seen that thing before, he was sure, but..... but all that could come to mind was his deceased friend.

‘If only...’ Shaking his head, he slapped himself ‘No, no bad Jacob, stop getting depressed’  Jacob had only been 8 when the incident happened, so it had been a bad time for him and the rest of the crew. Jacob’s thoughts came to a halt as a shadow flickered passed, he had just barely registered it. Jacob nodded to himself, albeit fearfully and slowly prepared to break out in a full sprint.

He slowly made his way down the school’s empty -abandoned- hallway, glancing frantically left and right. Jacob found himself in the school’s hall, looking up he saw a sign, he could barely make out what it said. ‘Looks like directions, wish I hadn’t dropped my glasses’  - while running from the thing he had tripped and dropped his glasses. ‘Great, now what?’ Jacob thought sarcastically, walking closer to the sign

To Be Continued (More Coming... Hopefully)

(Story Cliffhanger)

Seriously though I haven't done anything on this so I'm just updating it.

Descriptive Writing

Butter Chicken is coloured orange with boneless and skinless chicken thigh. The sauce is ambrosial, with an exquisite smell. I do not know much about the sauce but it is the best part as it is the flavour of the dish, you can also it on different spice levels such as, mild, medium or hot. While it’s temperature’s hot, it can burn your tongue, of course, which is why I prefer it warm, with a tiny amount of mint scattered on top. Butter chicken can also be served with roasted veggies, rice and garlic bread.

Plants We Eat

Plant: Radish x2
Eaten by: Me
Burning Mouth: Me
:')
Anyway last week, my class got to be amateur Botanists, with my experience being somewhat bad. Here's some advise, never ever eat a radish then a leaf then a another radish. :'P. Anyway, in summary (sorry it's so short >.<) we learnt new things and got to eat plants that were given, we also learnt about each plant.

The End,
Laters

My Short Writing :P

On one beautiful afternoon, Xander drove his brand new car through the country-side, listening to his favourite artist, Moses Fili, man that guy could sing.... anyway back to the story. Xander felt a sense of comfort as he drove along the rock filled road while listening to Moses.

The sun's light giving his car an ethereal glow, filling him with determination, though he didn’t know what he was going to use the determination for, but he sure as heaven (:’D) knew he was gonna do something with it.  Booom! The car exploded. He died.

The End :’P

The Big Game

Friday 13th March 2015

WALT:Use inferencing strategy to find answers to questions based on WALT text.

The Big Game

The game that Karla played, it wasn't very famous because know one knew what was going on so mum divided to take them to watch a rugby came at the park.

When they arrived a bus came when they stepped out and the people that came out were the town rugby players they were so excited to see them. The rugby players then walked to the changing room.

They (the family) went to sit in the front and when the game started the two rugby teams came onto the field and Karla and Mum went to their seat. When Shane did his big run everybody cheered loudly. Next, Shane was going to do a conversion, when Shane kicked the ball into the post’s, Mum and Karla shouted louder than any one.

5 Facts about How Waves are Made

WALT: skim and scan for facts on how waves are made

5 Facts about How Waves are Made

1.Wind interaction on the ocean far from the coast can create some of the best waves on earth.
2.Local shore winds can also create waves.
3.Low pressure systems are responsible for creating good and strong waves.
4.Created by wind, and influenced along the way by changes in seafloor topography, rainfall, tides, coastal backwash, currents and local winds, waves are a complex result of an amazing array of meteorological and geological variables
5.In deep low-pressure systems, wind speed is greater and more waves are generated by the power of the gusts.

A Look at Nelson Mandela's Life

The story is about Nelson Mandela standing up for Africans and trying to give better lives to children and other ages. Nelson Mandela has been dedicated to bring equality that he continued it for most of his life until he got arrested in 1962.

It wasn’t until 1990 that change finally came to South Africa. Nelson Mandela was finally released after 27 years of imprisonment and three years later he was awarded The Nobel Peace Prize for his work to end apartheid.

Months after he was elected president Since he stepped down as president in 1999, Nelson Mandela has been dedicated to ending global poverty and helping to resolve wars and conflicts throughout Africa.

My Book Poem

How to Make A Book Spine

WALT:Create a Book Spine Poem

  • Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!
  • Oh, The Places You’ll Go
  • Where the Wild Things Are
  • Good Night, Gorilla
  • Stone Soup

To make a book spine poem, you would start by moving these books around into stacks with the spines together so that the titles are like the lines of a poem. You would keep moving the book titles around into different stacks until you find the “lines” that go best together to make a poem. For example, one set of titles might describe a story:

Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!
Oh, The Places You’ll Go
Where the Wild Things Are

In this story, if you let the pigeon drive the bus, you might end up going a lot of unexpected places.

My Book Spine Poetry:

Once A Upon A Time
When dad did the washing
King Gilbert
Putting on a Concert and the Television News
The Race Monster Car
The Terrible Q

Journey through the Stars by Alan Bagnall

Journey through the Stars

On this gently pulsing deck I lie,
Gazing down into the infinite depths
of a night sky.
For every star in our galaxy
is reflected on a polished sea.
Stars above stars below
all sense of earth is disappearing.
Life is a space journey -
anyone steering?

Vege Car By Peter Stevens

Vege Car by Peter Stevens

This is an article about a man named James Nui and his journey to protest against the Iraq war. James Nui made a car that could run on Vegetable oil and he tries to get the word out with James Iti. To get the word out they needed to prove it was reliable so they drove across New Zealand from Bluff to Cape Reinga but they had a rough start. They had a smooth ride later on but it was a little to smooth and so they got a speeding ticket.

I liked this article because it talked about protesting against The Iraq war.
