A Look at Nelson Mandela's Life

The story is about Nelson Mandela standing up for Africans and trying to give better lives to children and other ages. Nelson Mandela has been dedicated to bring equality that he continued it for most of his life until he got arrested in 1962.

It wasn’t until 1990 that change finally came to South Africa. Nelson Mandela was finally released after 27 years of imprisonment and three years later he was awarded The Nobel Peace Prize for his work to end apartheid.

Months after he was elected president Since he stepped down as president in 1999, Nelson Mandela has been dedicated to ending global poverty and helping to resolve wars and conflicts throughout Africa.

My Book Poem

How to Make A Book Spine

WALT:Create a Book Spine Poem

  • Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!
  • Oh, The Places You’ll Go
  • Where the Wild Things Are
  • Good Night, Gorilla
  • Stone Soup

To make a book spine poem, you would start by moving these books around into stacks with the spines together so that the titles are like the lines of a poem. You would keep moving the book titles around into different stacks until you find the “lines” that go best together to make a poem. For example, one set of titles might describe a story:

Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!
Oh, The Places You’ll Go
Where the Wild Things Are

In this story, if you let the pigeon drive the bus, you might end up going a lot of unexpected places.

Journey through the Stars by Alan Bagnall

Journey through the Stars

On this gently pulsing deck I lie,
Gazing down into the infinite depths
of a night sky.
For every star in our galaxy
is reflected on a polished sea.
Stars above stars below
all sense of earth is disappearing.
Life is a space journey -
anyone steering?

Vege Car By Peter Stevens

Vege Car by Peter Stevens

This is an article about a man named James Nui and his journey to protest against the Iraq war. James Nui made a car that could run on Vegetable oil and he tries to get the word out with James Iti. To get the word out they needed to prove it was reliable so they drove across New Zealand from Bluff to Cape Reinga but they had a rough start. They had a smooth ride later on but it was a little to smooth and so they got a speeding ticket.

I liked this article because it talked about protesting against The Iraq war.

Hello, Joy Cowley By Sarah Reid

Hello, Joy Cowley By Sarah Reid

I like this story because it shows me the troubles one can go through when one procrastinates and doesn’t do their homework.  Most of the time I do procrastinate  and I save it for the last day. It doesn’t feel good when I rush to finish my homework and my writing is messy and I break my pencil and I have to find my sharpener.

I learnt that I can almost fail because I procrastinate and I could  have done more than before. I like this story because it teaches me about procrastination and what I could do to prevent the troubles.

Making Bread

Bread is made from different ingredients. These ingredients are sugar, milk, butter, olive oil, rapid yeast, salt ,flour and milk.
First, combine the flour, yeast and sugar in a large bowl. Then stir in salt and then make a well in the centre and put warm milk and butter.

Then, stir the mixture until made into dough.

Next, use your hands to bring the dough together in the bowl. Soon after that turn the dough onto a light surface and knead it until the dough is smooth and elastic.

After that, brush a large bowl with olive oil to grease. Then place the dough into the bowl and cover it with a damp tea towel and set it aside in a warm, draught-free place to settle for 45 minutes - 1 hour or until the dough has double sized.

Then, knead the centre of the dough with your fist. After that turn the dough onto a lightly floured place and then knead for two minutes or until the dough is elastic and has turned to it’s original size. Once it has turned to its original size, it is ready to bake.

Next, put the dough into a loaf pan and place it into a preheated 200 °C oven for about 35 minutes. When the bread is fully baked , it will sound “hollow” when it is  tapped with the finger. It will easily fall out of the loaf pan. It is now time to set the loaf of bread aside to cool down.

The yummy loaf of bread is now ready to share with your family.

My Week-End

My Week-End

Last weekend I woke up and went into my room and I just sat in my room playing games like Saints row 4(A Shooter), Grand Theft Auto 5(A Shooter) and Crysis 3(A Shooter) . Then I played on my computer and just looked at video’s for about an hour. After a while my nephew called me on Skype and we played Minecraft (a popular building game) for about 6 hours.

After that we switched games and we played Grand Theft Auto 5 online together. We had just got new clothes, repaired our cars, flew planes and killed each other. After all of that my nephew and I got tired so we both went to sleep.

On Sunday, I woke up all messy and went to my computer to see if my nephew was online so we could play, but sadly he wasn’t on so I just watched video’s while I was waiting for him for about 3 hours. Finally my nephew got online so I called him on Skype and I played with him on Gta 5 Online and Minecraft for most of the day.

Next he logged off his computer so I went to play on my trampoline and I did some back-flips. Once I got bored I laid down for about 1 minute before I had to go and have dinner. After that I went to my small bed and watched  TV for about 2 hours.  Then fell into a nice deep sleep.
