Nacho chips

Nacho
Step 1 - Dice the ocean and Fry until soft, add the mince and fry until cooked
2 - Add bake bean, sauce, cheese, boil for 4 minutes
3 Serve on top of the corn chips, to take a photo before you eat
- clean up

The cooking process was simple enough. I wouldn't mind cooking them once again. This is an easy meal for a family that I would recommend. The nacho chips were nice and crisp. The taste of the beans with cheese was nice and stringy. Overall nice and filling meal.

Chocolate Muffins

Step 1 - 2 c of self rising flour
  • 1 c of sugar
  • 4 tsp of cocoa
  • ½ c of oil
  • 1 c milk, 1 egg

Step 2
  • Combine all and scoop into muffin tray
  • Bake 1800c for 15 mins

First we had to put the dry ingredients together and that was 2cp of self raising flour, 4 tsp of cocoa powder, 1cp of white sugar you put all that into a bowl. Then you add to the wet ingredients which are 1cp of milk, 1 egg, 1c of oil and then you put all of it into a one bowl and mix it with a plastic scraper until it is smooth and dark brown. When it is ready then you scoop the batch into the muffin tray and then you put it in the oven for 15 minutes at 180 degrees. When that is done then you enjoy your muffin.

    • family's influence, he would of gotten rid of the friends that gave

    • mistakes like that would ever happen again and like they say, the truth sets you free, so
    • getting that stuff off of his chest would have relieved him and could of helped improve his

    • his heartbeat would have also increased when he was confessing, increasing blood flow.

In social studies class, I studied Political Party Policies for Education, Housing and Health. The Party Policy I best supported was Labour because it really supports the youths and with build a better future for New Zealand overall with Poverty. Glenbrae Graduation.

Today, we have been talking about our graduation and a small problem has come up. We are ordering custom T-shirts and it's quite expensive. So, to solve this, we thought of some ideas like, Car wash, Sausage Sizzle and many other ideas. But the idea our teachers chose and thought of was, volunteering to clean up the creek at Glenbrae reserve and, hopefully get sponsored for it.

This event will take place next week Tuesday 6th December, if you want to, come and join us!

Another event we will be having is a car wash on Saturday 10th December, so please bring your car around it needs a wash :)    Never-mind about that, it's been changed, I'll update this blog post as soon as I get more information.

All funds will be put towards our graduation day and if we get more than intended we will put it towards next years camp. Cheers. ;)

Abstract Artist Research

Today, we are looking at the Abstract artist, Kazimir Malevich. The reason why, is, we are going to an Art Gallery next week and I need to pick a specific Abstract artist and write about them. I picked Kazimir, because his art interested me as he drew in a way I didn't know about, called "Suprematism".

Here's what I learned:

1. He was a pioneer of geometric abstract art and the originator of the avant-garde Suprematist movement.
2. He studied at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture, and Architecture from 1904 to 1910 and in the studio of Fedor Rerberg in Moscow (1904 to 1910)
3. Malevich described himself as painting in a "Cubo-Futuristic" style in 1912.

And other than those small snip bits about him, I also learnt about what he drew, here's some small bits of his paintings:

1.  Here's the "Black Square" which is Kazimir's iconic painting and a painting which is frequently called by critics, historians, curators, and artists as the “zero point of painting".

White on White (Malevich, 1918).png2.The next painting and the last I'm unfortunately only able to to do because of time is "White on White" which was created by Kazimir in 1916. Malevich wanted the painting to evoke a feeling of floating, with the colour white symbolising infinity, and the slight tilt of the square suggests movement.

If you don't know anything about abstract art, here's an explanation:
Abstract art can be a painting or sculpture that does not show a person, place or thing in the natural world.
With abstract art, the subject of the work is based on what you see: color, shapes, brushstrokes, size, scale and, in some cases, the process. Abstract art started around the early 1900 as the first real Abstract Art was painted earlier by some Expressionists, especially Kandinsky in the early 1900s.
Thank you for sticking through this long blog post today. Cheers

Kiwi Can 13/10/16

Today, we had Kiwi can, again, but I had come late and they were already playing a game, it ended when I arrived. Then we started walking back inside and we talked about values and what values mean to us. After having that talk we had our activity, which was - Role-play - we had to role-play a value that was given to us and it was a 5-per team activity. I was paired with 2 girls and 2 boys, and when we started planning the girls gave most of the suggestions while us boys were working on acting.

We had been given the value "Perseverance" and we had done a scenario where I am last in a race and the coach(1 of the girls) gives me encouragement and I persevere and make it to the finish line. After sorting out what we were going to do, the teacher called us in and we sat down waiting for instructions. They called out the number for each group, we were group 3. The first group to be called was group 2 and they're value was "Encouragement" and much to our embarrassment they had done almost the exact same scenario as us.

So, after their turn it was our turn and we had ended up performing almost the exact same as them and then the next group was up, to cut it short I'm just gonna say their value and then on to the next group. Okay, so we're now on group 4 and they're value was "Fairness", then the next group, Group 1, done the value "Appreciation" . Finally, we had games of GKQ which was basically a quiz game and then we finished and came back here. Cheers.

Kiwi Can Reflection

Today, was the last day of Kiwi can this term, we had a lot of fun in this last block. As today was the last day this term, we just went over what we had learnt and then played for the rest of it.

Here's what we learnt:

Topic 1: Goal Setting
This topic really resonates with me as I have set a goal of becoming a Software developer, so I can be paid heaps :]

Topic 2: Perseverance
"Perseverance is the key to success" Is my motto (I guess) and this really relates to me as I think of the future and what I'm going to have to do in order to be successful.

Topic 3: Problem Solving
This final topic is a big one in my school as this school is a "Happy and Safe Learning Community" and we use this in our everyday school lives and at home.

And that sums up everything, Cheers

Science Intensive

Today, half of Room 7 was in Room 10 today with Mrs Moopanar. We tried a lot of experiments. Miss was doing Magnets for her science. The first experiment was Follow the Force, it was an okay experiment. The next experiment was The Decisive magnet. It was a short experiment but fun. After that, we tried another experiment called The invisible dance partner. We placed the magnet down and let the U shape magnet flow side to side. Our last activity was The jitters. We all placed all of the bar magnets and let the U shape flow all around the triangle. After that we drew a plane, car and a fish.

We are going to do more but this is what we have done so far.

Cheers

Science Intensive

Yesterday, after returning from presenting at the Aotea Centre (I think),  I was sent to another class to start some Science work. After arriving, we were told to sit down and follow the instructions that the Teacher was giving us. What we had to was get a plastic plate, pour milk in that plate and then add food coloring. After doing that you have to get a earbud and dab it in a bit of dish washing liquid. Then, dab that earbud, with the dish washing liquid side down, into the place where the food coloring is and BOOM! Color everywhere. My friends and I then tried to get get the liquid out of the plate into a bowl rather than taking it outside and the result was us spilling it on the table, which we cleaned up right away.

This is just a bit of what I learnt. I want to leave the rest for later

Here is the Samoan cultures Siva Tau, also known as the Samoan Haka.

Here is the lyrics all the words of it so you can practise and perform yourself. We are also performing on Thursday for our Culture Festival

The Manu Samoa
Le Manu Samoa e o mai I Samoa
The Manu Samoa reigns from Samoa
Le Manu!
The Manu!

Going to Google's Presentation

Waking up early is not my thing, so when I was told to wake up by 7:15 I was rolling around in bed trying to go to sleep as fast as possible. I woke up at 7:15 and jumped out of bed, sped around the house cleaning myself up and trying to get ready as fast as possible. When I finished getting ready I calmed down and sat down, waiting for my ride to come. But you know what happened, she hadn't come so my Mother called a taxi which I had to ride to where I was going to be picked up. When I arrived I was worried that they had already left, but luckily I saw the others that were going with me, so I jumped out of the taxi and rushed to them.

I got there in time so I just sat back and relaxed. After riding for a while I started getting nervous for my performance, so we spent the rest of the ride in silence. After arriving at the presentation place we got prompted on what to do and where to sit. We then started to pull out our netbooks and then tried to connect to the Wi-fi - which wasn't successful for me. Next, the event started and we had to go and present - I'm not bragging but I think the other ambassadors and I did good.

After presenting, we went to the back and sat down and started to blog, at that time I was half finished with this blog post. After another presentation from Mrs Dorothy Burt, we had Break time. In which, I was able to get  a fruit cup, burger and glass bottle of water.

I also took a picture with a Teacher from there

After break time, we received a gift back form google which inside had a google cardboard, A google pen, a google note pad and instructions. After that we headed back to school while singing songs and discussing.

Manaiakalani Hui

Right now, I am at the 5th Annual Manaiakalani Hui. Sitting next to me are other school ambassadors, eagerly talking to each with teachers in front of us also talking with each other. This event is quite an eye opener as all these teachers debate and discuss their opinions on children learning.

Duffy Show

Today, we had the chance to watch a show performed by Duffy. We were able to watch  them and able to learn a lot including how lucky we are, being able to go to school, read, write and calculate. The duffy show showed us many different things in a hilarious fashion. I hope I will be able to see a show like it in college.

The Haka

Today, we were tasked with doing the Haka. Now, I know, that may not seem that challenging but we also needed to do a Samoan and Tongan haka's. Sadly we only got to the Samoan and Maori Haka's. Doing this required practice because  most of us were embarrassed. We will be presenting this in our cultural festival at school ;)
